Scotland Road

Scotland Road sets the scene for this delightful and captivating story of seven ordinary lives set in the suburbs of Liverpool.

We follow the story of a mechanic, Sean Myers and his partner Chrissy, whose relationship is perfect. Almost! Chrissys' frustration and desire to conceive is rapidly becoming an obsession.

Seans' continuous and unrelenting addiction to gambling finally pays off one night giving him the opportunity to open his life long ambition, a second hand car dealership.

Sean and pessimistic best mate Billy open up only to encounter a variety of friendships. They meet Danny, a cheeky local lad who works in the petrol station. Barry "Botox" who runs the local florist is very camp and never short of a few words. Tomo runs the local pub; he is impulsive and hot-headed. We also meet Vince a larger than life character, who was once a bad boy in his time, but has settled for the hassle free life style of running the local chippy "Just Been Battered”. The camaraderie between these relationships is often humorous and endearing.

On opening the dealership, ever the optimist, Sean gets more than he bargained for when he is faced with the obstacle of the local underworld.

Their paths collide taking them on a journey neither of them anticipated.

A Brief History of Scotland Road

Home to most of Liverpool's migrant communities, Scotland Road was the centre of working-class life in North Liverpool. Scotland Road was almost "a city within a city" and had four main migrant communities; Irish, Welsh, Scottish and Italian—not to mention the native Lancastrian community and pockets of German and Polish—meaning Scotland Road was a cultural melting pot. It was a place close to both the back end of the city centre and the docks. It could be a place of both romantic nostalgia and brutal hardship. Community was at the centre of Scotland Road and one's faith often dictated which community one belonged to.

Scotland Road the screen play is a modern day version of romantic nostalgia, domestic circumstance and community spirit.
